Planning to buy a new pc , and give my old E8400-GT9600 to my dad since his pc is almost busted.

Now i dont want to buy a really expensive machine , just a nice quiet gaming machine that can play some games on still a old resolution so I came up with this list.

processor 109,95 i530
motherboard 121,9 p55-giga-UD3R
memory 109,95 4gb
gfx 128,95 ATI 5750
HD 60 WD-black 640gb
DVD 20 samsung

Now when comparing I i could go cheap
i3 5XX,i5 6xx, E8XX ,
or more expensive
i5 750 or above

Think I will pick i3 530 because best bang for buck by far specially if you wanne see any major performance increase you need to jump to a i5 750 80 euros more.

Now when I compared 530 and 750 I noticed they both not have
AES new instructions : (Not using bitlocker or any hard sik encryptions so not needed i gues?)
VT-d : i use for school a lot of virtual machines but on my laptop so kinda pointless also + Virtual Box not having any VT-d support soonish?

But then Intel® Trusted Execution Technology : no clue what this is , only thing i could found was technical blaba , security experts saying it is faulty and windows7 post saying you need to disable it for virtual XP. Anyone can tell me a bit more?

PS
If anyone else think I am beeing a complete dumbass by picking a i3 530 instead of i5 750 or others feel free to say why :).

Do you like by a MC? That alone might drive your purchasing decision because you can get i5/i7 for a great deal...

What you mean with "Do you like by a MC" , you mean buy a mc? ^_^ what is a MC.

Prices are in euros btw, I am from belgium so high taxes and high prices on most electronics.

Core i5 750 increased in price from $150 to $189.99, but the Core i3 goes for $99.99 (In store pick up only)

He lives in Belgium so quoting in dollars and store pick up isn't going to help.

Well the main question isn't about the price , I would prefer it cheap and the performance of my old E8400 was good enough for me and in benchmarks the i3 530 is faster in a lot of tests then the E8600. But does the intel trusted execution do anything usefull at all?

For the end user? No. It isn't hurting anyone/anything yet (maybe someday it will) to my knowledge, but it certainly is of no use.

I'd take an E8600 over a Clarkdale ANYDAY. All that cache is worth it. Only reason the clarkie is better on some tests is because of HT

VT-x : CPU virtualization
VT-d : I/O virtualization

I don't think VT-d is currently supported outside hypervisor environments. So VirtualBox is not likely to support VT-d. Your devices need to be aware of it, too, and I can't think of much use. (I remember NV announced something like "SLI-OS" but was there any further development?)

That's news to me, but I'd disable TXT anyway. (and you should, too)

i5-750 or i7-860 is a better choice for VMs. Not only core count matters but you need good memory performance.

Ty for the info(also other people for the TXT,Vt-d info,..) but the E8600 cost almost as much as a core i7 920 for me (around 250 euros) and thats just not worth the price difference for me compared to i3 530(enourmous 150 euro's cheaper). I guess also then I might as well have gotten a 920?

Looking at the benchmarks again I am leaning toward a i5 750(around 180 euro's) because has nice performance and on second place core i3 530(around 100 euro's) because just of the cheap price.
