I've seen youtube videos showing modest 4K video editing performed on a Macbook 12" using Final Cut Pro X and wondering if an Acer 15" laptop I'm eyeing might be able to do as well or better than the Macbook 12"? It uses Core i3 7100u CPU (dual core 2.4ghz, apparently no turbo boost) , has Core i3 rather than N series or M series Intel CPU, 1080p display, 12 hour battery life, free m.2 slot, replaceable HDD to SSD, and upgradeable to 32GB RAM, all for $349.
It can run Windows, Linux, and confirmed to be Hacktintosh friendly. To me, these things make it more attractive than most Chromebooks.
Do you think I could run Final Cut Pro X better with the above specs than Macbook 12"? I realize for heavy 4K video editing, none of these will cut it, but I'm just looking for something to use "in a pinch" when on the road. Plus, I can export to lower res frames in the event something is too CPU intensive. If I need more intensive work, it'd be done locally on my home workstation OR using remote desktop/splashtop to do the video editing remotely connected to my home workstation, with the laptop serving as a thin client of sorts.
Thanks in advance!
