Core? Duo vs Core 2 Duo

Whats the difference between the Core Duo and Core 2 Duo processors?
I am specifically looking at

Intel® Core? Duo Processor T2050 (1.60 GHz)
vs
Intel Core?2 Duo Processor T5500 (1.66 GHz)

I checked intel.com and found only T2300 to compare with the T5500 and it does not seem to be different.

Thanks

Its a bit misleading just looking at clockspeed and manufacturing process.

The core 2 duo will be somewhat quicker than the core duo.
The core duo is roughly clock for clock the same as an A64 X2 or turion equivalent.
The core 2 duo is faster due to an improved architecture.

All Core 2 Duos support 64-bit, I believe. The Core 2 Duo is a bit more efficient and has macro fusion for 32-bit.
