Core Duo and Pentium M benefit from matched pair RAM

On an AMD system, your performance can improve quite a bit if you have a pair of matching RAM (say 2x256, 2x512, etc). Is the same situation also true for Core Duo and Pentium M or Core2Duo for that matter?

If you have 2x 512Mb sticks instead of 1x 1Gb stick you can run them in dual-channel which effectively doubles memory bandwidth.

But in real world performance it ends up being 3-7% some new intel systems maybe a little more.
