Core duo and core 2 question.

Hello, I am currently in the process of finalizing my Inspiron e1505 order, but I am having second thoughts about the processor. I have looked around but reviews comparing the processors in question are not easy to find. As it stands, the options are as follows:

Core Duo T2250 (1.73GHz/533MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)

Add $100 for Core 2 Duo T5500 (2MB Cache/1.66GHz/667MHz FSB)

Add another $50 for Core 2 Duo T5600 (2MB Cache/1.83GHz/667MHz FSB)

Or add another $75 for a Core 2 Duo T7200 (4MB Cache/2.00GHz/667MHz FSB)

Whichever processor is chosen in the end will be accompanied by 1GB of Dell's 533Mhz RAM, a 5400rpm hd, and a Radeon mobility x1400. I am looking to play Medieval 2 Total War when it is released and have some viability for games released within the next year (no high resolution gaming, no aa/af of course). Other than that I pretty much just write papers, listen to music, and watch movies. I'm just looking for the best price/performance ratio really. If you need me to clarify anything I will do so. I appreciate you reading and extending your knowledge and advice to me.

(At the time I write this my main question is how much better is the T5500 vs the T2250?)

soo much better than anything else offered

What's your opinion on the FSB and RAM speeds?

save yourself some money and get the lowest ram they have on dell (512 mb) and go buy new ram at newegg (like 2GB DDR2 667) for somewhere around $220, install it yourself (easy on laptop)

buy the higher res screen, buy the intergrated soundblaster audigy, thats really all I recommend

I configured a 1505 laptop for $1400 and I got a coupon for like 20% off ($1120) you can find these coupons if you search google "dell coupons" spend that extra money on the ram and maybe an extrnal HD for storage of music or whatever.

I can't thank you enough for tipping me off to the coupons, I found a $200 off any $999+ Inspiron e1505. I got the processor you reccomended, and the ultrasharp screen, with everything else I wanted for $1093, including shipping. :)

here is a site that has coupons

http://www.4computercoupons.com/

you copy the coupon code, and when youre done configuring your laptop, and you added it to your cart... there will be a place in your cart that will let you add coupons codes, some coupons will be stackable, but they will say so if its possible (usually they will say like extra $100 coupon code STACKABLE)

link

Yea, the $200 off does not combine with the $100 off, but I don't care, $100 in my pocket is great!
