Core 2 MacBook vs. Core 2 MacBook Pro

I like the MacBook in every way but my one problem is the graphics card.

I'm an architecture student and use Archicad and Rhino on a daily basis. I have an external hard disk and a 24" Dell 2405FPW so disk space and screen size are not a concern. My concern is that if I'm using the MacBook for rendering or designing I'll run into either an impossibility or a major loss in productivity. If it slows me down significantly, it's not worth it to me.

Does anyone have any experience using these programs on a MacBook or a MacBook Pro for that matter?

The X1600 in the MacBook Pro is nice but a Quadro or some other GL card would have been nicer. The Dell Precision laptops are better suited for my application but now that I've moved to OS X, I have no interest in ever going back to windows. Parralels is great. Also with the Native CS3 coming out next year ...

Have you checked with your software vendors?

It sounds like integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics will not do for you.

According to this topic ArchiCAD is installable on a MacBook and runs not too bad. You require ArchiCAD 10 since version 9 is not x86 native for OS X. Also if you plan to buy the entry level MacBook, make sure to put at least 2x512 MB RAM in it as you lose 80 MB of the system RAM to the GMA 950.
