Core 2 duo VS Quad core

Hey guys I need to find out which processor is better for gaming? eg: Call of Duty:Modern Warfare,Need for Speed:pro Street,Grand Theft Auto 4 etc. Any answer would be appreciated.

A quad isn't needed. Those games aren't designed to take full advantage of multiple core CPUs. So what you'll want to do is bet a CPU with higher clock speeds. But in the end the games are more dependend on your video card then the CPU. Also you'll want no less then 2gb of RAM.

e8400, q6600, or q8300, with 4gb of ram. There's really no wrong choice, all these processors are good .

CODWAW is multi core optimized... and what!?! GTA4 isn't!??? lol,

EDIT: even says so on the CODWAW box

you didn't say how much money. the 8400, 8500, and 8600 are awesomely fast.

the 7*** series is awesomely fast.

i have a Vista system with the E6850, 3 GHz, like the 8400. so far i've used it for speech recognition & Flash. it's noticeably faster than my E6700 system, which is 2.67 GHz dual core.
