What has me intrigued are the huge performance differences in encoding and gaming which is mostly what I do.

I agree... when the FX's pull to within 1 or 2 points, seeing a comment like "wow! The Intel <part> beat out the competition by an insane margin... it would take an Athlon 64 clocked at nearly 18GHz to compete..."

Sorry, but their own numbers show the Athlon 64's are extremely competitive. Just like the Pentium 4's were extremely competitive with the right comparisons.

I love how people on all forums on the net are so divided and camp themselves in with one brand or the other. Coke/Pepsi, Intel/AMD, ATI/Nvidia.

This fanboy nonsense has got to stop. If Intel came out with a new line of processors that were significantly worse than what AMD has to offer at the moment it would be very shocking. Especially with Intel @ 65nm vs AMD @ 90nm. Why is everyone in the Intel fanboy camp so smug that Intel is going to hold the performance crown forever? At this point nobody can say when AMD's next generation of processors come out that it wont at least level the playing field or surpass Conroe by 5-20%. Then guess what is going to happen, Intel will probably counter with a processor that will spank K8L and the cycle will continue as long as both companies exist. All this mouthing off about AMD vs. Intel is just stupid. I guess it is better than buying a $100k sportscar but it seems like people are overcompensating for something or I should say lack of something. Grow up and enjoy competition between two companies. The way some of you act it seems like you would prefer if one of these companies didnt exist and that would not be good for anyone.

cause the majority of the people coming in these forums are teenagers and kids. The rest are just nerds who don't have girlfriends or nothing better to do with their time. Some people also enjoy coming into the forums and causing ****** again cause they are bored.

Sounds like you are the fanboy.

If you don't want an Intel cpu then don't buy it. :p

Funky point system, not the best review, but looks like the Conroe performs as expected.
