Specifically AMD X2 6000 versus Core 2 Duo 6750.

My PC is going to have one of these, which is the better brand and/or more reliable CPU?

Also, would an 8600 GTS tide me over for like 4-5 months with the newest games?

Buy a 8800gt in a weeks time, should cost only a LITTLE more then the 8600gts, but it will not only ride you over for like 4-5 months, it will run those newest games just fine too. As for the CPU, when overclocking it's Intel hands down, at stock speeds the e6750 is faster then the x2 6000+. So depending on how much cheaper the x2 6000+ is, I'd say Intel.

You're gonna get some wild posts here I think, but like Marc said...unless the x2 is significantly cheaper so that you can afford to get more memory or a bigger monitor etc, I would buy the Core2.

Actually with the upgrade in vid cards both PC's will cost the exact same amount, however, the X2 system has 500 GB hard drive and the Intel has only 320 GB. This doesn't matter seeing as how I already have an external HD...I'm going with the Intel. Here is a post of the specs:
