***This question is also posted in the General Hardware forum***

I need to upgrade my system. After finding a lot of great info in the forums so far, I am stuck at the mobo decision. I believe I am getting the C2D E6300 processor. I need to find a mobo to go with it. My criteria is quiet, stable, cool, oc'ing. I am not an oc'ing enthusiast, but it is fun to play with it some times. If money wasn't an object, the decision would be easy. I have about $600 to cover case, PSU, CPU, motherboard, processor hsf.

Cost Estimates:
Case: $100
PSU: $125
CPU: $180
HSF: $50
MoBo: Leaves ~$150 for mobo.

I can make reductions here and there to get more money for the mobo. However, I need to have a quiet PC since the newborn will be in the same room.

Thanks for any advice.

I would reccomend the Gigabyte DS3 for you. If you want to try for even more OCing godness then the P5B Deluxe or P5B-E. The DS3 will be cheaper though.

I agree on the Gigabyte board. Reasonably priced with good overclocking features.

I have that board and run my E6600 at 3.2 easily.

Thank you for the feedback. I believe I was looking at that Gigabyte board early today. With your recommendations, I am going to go that route.

I have a useable video adapter. It is a nVidia GeForce FX3500. It is a free loaner until I can purchase one. It is not an urgent need to buy one any time soon.

Here is what will be in it:

1. Antec ATX Tower case - already have and decided not to sell it
2. Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 - $180 *going to use stock HSF for now. no oc'ing for a while
3. Gigabyte GA 965P DS3 - $145
4. 2x 2GB PC5300 ECC memory - This is loaner memory until I can purchase my own.
5. nVidia GeForce FX3500 - loaner
6. Seagate 320GB 7200.10 Sata HDD - $95
7. Seasonic S12-430 - $95

This puts me at about my limit. I will upgrade the parts over time. I have a good friend that loans me components until I can purchase.

Any recommendationed changes?

it oc's like a beast. I have it, and I can vouch for that...

you got a video card already or are u lookin to go integrated?

I think you meant to link to this:

We need to be more specific here. He wants the 965P DS3, not the 965G DS3. The 965G has OCing limitations.

I thought that was the 965p :p
