Don't forget my phenom 2 X4 got to 3.8Ghz but maybe you're just not as talented as i am when it comes to overclocking.

Intel's are EASY to overclock. Its been proven over and over again but i wouldn't expect you to know that using that amd garbage.

An overclock is only as strong as how good your cooling is.

This thread has gone way off course from its original intention of what is equivalent to an e5200.

Apparently, you are not very "talented" at overclocking if you could only get that PhII X4 to 3.8 on water, when plenty of other people are hitting ~4Ghz on air.

Easy 5 Ghz? Looks like you were having issues here.

Seems like you are Intel's answer to fusion238. Hmm, maybe we should have a "fanboi vs fanboi" cage match!

AMD X2 6000/6400 and 7550/7750 are pretty comparable, if we are comparing at stock speeds. They all have slightly different strengths and weaknesses.

e5200 overlclocks better than those X2's.

If you're looking for potential and a better design intel is the way to go. If you're on a budget intel is also the way to go. Pair an E5200 with some 1066 DDR2 and a nice mobo and 4ghz is EASY and cheap

I wouldn't say 4Ghz is "easy" for an E5200. Not at "safe" voltages. In fact, I haven't seen one hit 4Ghz yet, at 1.4v actual or less.

I don't see any evidence of 10+hr Prime95 stability in that picture. On my friend's E5200, giving it 1.4v actual under load, I could boot Windows at 4Ghz fine, but it wasn't prime stable at anything above 3.75Ghz.

For light gaming & general use the e5200 is an excellent choice.

It only took 33 posts for someone to actually answer the question :p

A new record or something?

I was just so interested in how off topic the thread got without even answering the question, when the question was easy to answer.

I know that I have seen benchmarks comparing the processors in question, yet no-one posted them until you did on the 33rd post.

I was just suprised that the answer did not come up earlier.

Good job actually helping the OP, Denithor. I meant no disrespect at all.

edit: I don't want to continue this thread any longer than it needs to be, so I am responding to Flipped Gazelle here. I apologize for insinuating that you did not answer the question.
