Core 2 Duo in a Dell

I'm trying to configure a Dell (no choice but Dell) online, and I'm looking at the inspiron 1520. I've selected a "Intel® Core? 2 Duo T7500 (2.2GHz/800Mhz FSB/4MB cache)", but then below in my configuration it says "Processor Branding Intel Centrino Core Duo Processor "

If I'm actually getting a Core Duo then I'd much rather go with the AMD offering. Any idea here?

That is a Core 2 Duo. Centrino is a suite of technologies (wireless chip, chipset, processor, power management, and maybe some other things) that all have to match, lest it not carry the Centrino name. The issue with this is that too many people then think that the processor is called the Centrino and not the Core, Core 2, or Pentium M.

Sweet!

My new setup will be a 2.2ghz core 2 duo with 4MB L2, an 8600M GT, 2GB DDR667, 160GB 7200RPM HDD. Hooray for employers buying hardware per employee's specs!

I hope you ordered it in black! Dell's blaming recent shipping delays on problems getting the colored cases. My daughter's midnight blue 1520 reportedly shipped today -- we ordered back on July 21st!

Good luck
