I will be testing a Core 2 Duo E4500 to show how it does in Modern Games. Games i will test: BF3, Tomb Raider, Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, Assassins Creed III and Benchmarks will be 3Dmark 11, Uniengine Heaven 4.0, and Uniengine Valley

System Specs:

Core 2 Duo E4500 @2.20GHz
Samsung 2GB(4x512MB) DDR2 800MHz
Crucial 60GB SSD
Seagate Barracuda 320GB HDD
Antec Trupower 450w
PCIe 2.0x16 Slot
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Edit: It would be great if someone could lend me 4GB or 8GB of DDR2 to eliminate RAM bottlenecking

In for this; bet it stuggles on BF3 and FC3 for the most part. When are you doing your tests?

later today when i get back home and i also think it will struggle to not becuase of the cpu though but because it only has 2GB of RAM

Do you have common settings/resolutions you're going to run the benchmarks at? I think that will play a bigger role than memory or CPU. 1920x1080 with some eye candy enabled? CPU bottleneck with a side of low RAM, imho at least.

all games will be at 1920x1080

BF3 Maxed
Far Cry 3 Ultra no AA
Crysis 3 Very High w/FXAA
Tomb Raider Ultra w/FXAA & TressFX
Bioshock Infinite Ultra w/ FXAA

RAM will play a big role either way

If you only have 2GB of RAM, won't that be a bottleneck in multiplayer BF3?

This is one of the worst bottlenecks Ive seen. That CPU is a pos. The video card is good. You wont get all frames per second you should get with that card.

Interesting test, but I a pretty sure you will be CPU bottle necked in every game. For a couple of years I was running an E4500, 3gb ram, 9800GT at 1444 x 900 and was running into CPU bottlenecks in skyrim at high.

I will be looking forward to the results. I actually replaced my entire system recently because of the CPU. It will be interesting to see if all I needed was a better video card.

Oh yeah, this should be fun as hell i have tested my 7850 dropping off two cores on my i5 2500 and dropping the clocks as low as 2ghz,where in some games as old as bf2 would drop under 60fps....BF3 the settings of medium can deliver 60fps at 1200p with no msaa but at about 2.2ghz i saw dips under 60fps all the time with all 4 cores enabled.

Will bet your e4500 will be much worst off then the underclocked i5 with 2 cores disabled, did my testing with intentions of a low power htpc.

Check eBay, in the last two months I have picked up two sets of 2x2GB PC2-6400 RAM for around $30-35 each kit. Both have worked flawlessly.

lol amd drivers causing problems? never

this is going to be a silly looking experiment. having only 2gb of system ram will mean some hitching and performance loss not letting the card do its job. really with that cpu, you will not even get half of what a 7870 can do in those games.

Never said that the drivers were the problem

I narrowed the problem down to the PSU
