Hello All, I was thinking about getting a C2D 6300. However the current ram I have is DDR 3200. My question how of a performance decrease will I see if I was to use this ram instead of getting DDR 2? I am not planning on doing any over clocking.

Thanks!!

The only problem is overclocking. That ASrock board won;t OC anywhere close to my S3 board. And such a shame too...... All that memory to sell.

I wasn't too concerned about the overclocking part. I recently got married & was trying to decide if I wanted to do another upgrade before I have to start asking the wife if I can buy something, especially if its something I don't "need".

Also another part of it was that for some reason, my system has been running slow & I was also trying to solve that problem, so I may not have to buy anything.

I do have a couple things to try, the only question at the moment i had was how to select what core you want a program to run on?

Thanks

Some advice from a married guy.

Buy what you want now. All of it. Even the new QX6800 (or whatever the top of the line cpu is.) You may never have another chance. ;) ;)

I am in the same boat you are regarding the DDR ram. I actually have a 9800pro AGP video card also.

So, I am going to get the ASrock board now, but will probably get the e6600 chip instead of the e6300.

Then, 3-4 months from now, I'll get an ati x1950pro video card and maybe ddr2 ram, but the tests on this board don't show any improvement on ddr-ddr2, so I might wait on the ram until I'm ready to upgrade to an Asus P5B (or whatever the best overclocker is)

This way, I can get the C2D now, get my video card pretty soon, and when performance is an issue, upgrade to an overclockable mb. All I have wasted is $50 for the ASrock mb.

BTW, congrats on your engagement.

How soon are you getting married?

oops, I saw "before I have to start asking my wife" and missed the "just got married"

See what I get for trying to work and post at the same time.
