People sometimes report problems between their cordless phones and wireless networks. Does a 900 mhz phone avoid network problems? What is the advantage of a 2.4ghz phone over a 900mhz phone? Better range or something? Can you also avoid problems by buying other types of cordless phones, e.g. don't they go up to 5.8 ghz now? Thanks.

I believe 802.11b runs on 2.4ghz, so you'd be better getting something else. That said my 2.4ghz phone and network get along fine

Clarity is the advantage in the higher band phones. Range is not. I am sure you have read enough posts on here to know that. Higher the frequency, the smaller the wavelength, and the more dificult it is to carry and penetrate obstacles. Some of this can be avoided by power to the band but as a general rule, the lower the frequency, the longer the range. AM/FM for example, Khz vs. Mhz.

There is no real good reason to switch to a 2.4GHz phone.

However if we stick with the old staff what going to happen to the manufactures. They have to come with new staff no matter what; otherwise they are out of business.

So we get TV within TV within TV (every year there is an additional within), and we get 2.4GHz phones.

If you like wireless stick with the 900MHz.

Ktwebb is right 2.4GHz has more bandwidth for audio thus it is clearer. However it is also ?Dumbrerer?, unless you use the phone for your Dolby HiFi Music system delivery, then you need clearer.

so how does a 2.4 ghz phone really help?

The 11 KHz and 2.4 GHz are unrelated, other than that they are both frequencies. 11 KHz refers to the audio frequency of the actual sound going through the phone. 2.4GHz is the frequency that the handset and base of the cordless phone use to communicate back & forth.

And unless you are Pavarotti, Domingo, or Carreras. 4000Hz Audio is more than you need.
