Cordless modems?

Does anyone out there offer a cordless modem? No broadband in my area, so I'm stuck on dialup. :| I'd like to be able to do what surfing I do do at the house on my laptop without having to string a phone cord across the room.

Any ideas? I thought about setting up a simple barebones box (I've got the parts to do it) and wireless them together and then use the desktop's modem, but I don't want to have to keep up with another machine.
