cordless mice/batteries

hi i was wondering something. i have acordless optical mouse. logitech. anyways, the laser light is always on. it fades a bit when not in use but otherwise it is always on. its been 1 month and my batteries are already low now. any suggestions for something more cost effective? or is there a setting i can do to make it use less power?

Get the rechargeable version? The MS wireless optical just turns itself completely off if your hand isn't on it. It's pretty neat.

i haven't had experience with rechargeable batteries are they any good? I should have gotten the MX700 or whatever. I got the logitech cordless optical mouse. i got a hot deal on it after MIR so i picked it up. if i dont' want to change mice, what can i do?

does your light stay on? even when not in use? i think mine goes to a power save mode, but it is still on(laser), still draining the battery.

The batteries are great. Use them in our remotes, digital cameras, anything that accepts AA's.

If so, the light is always on. It dims when its not moving, and after a certain amount of time it goes into power saving mode where it flashes. My batteries last me about a month. Less if I game alot during the month, longer if I don't. So yeah I'd get some rechargeables. Its what my roommate did. Me, I'm waiting for another good deal on the MX700

yea, I've got that one, pthe black one w/ a keyboard. I love that mouse. Perrrrfect contour. Anyways...I still haven't replaced my batteries.

So how well does the Cordless MouseMan Optical work for FPS (or other fast-twitch) games?

I recently replaced the original (blue) MouseMan Optical with the second generation MouseMan Dual Optical. Both are excellent gaming mice. I've been too chicken to try a cordless mouse, but the reviews for the MX700 have declared it ready for prime-time gaming. I'm wondering how the previous generation fares, as the new MX line is too pricey right now for me to upgrade.

Also, the rechargeable MX700 apparently needs to be recharged regularly; whereas from you guys it sounds like the previous generation will run on NiMH AAs for at least a month's time, which seems a lot more convenient. Not too mention I have a few Panasonic AAs lying around from the first Big Lots deal.

In most cases, cordless mouse suck big ones for games like Counter-strike and the lot. Thats because no matter how high the resolution and the fps the mouse runs at, the limited bandwidth of the signals being sent is only so much. It'll be decent with the newer ones, but cords are the way to go. That, and my microsoft explorer 3.0 mouse is the best I've ever used.

I bought the RFSOP-35 cordless/optical mouse from A4tech. It uses 2 AAA NiMH batteries and has a battery charger built into the mouse itself. It uses a USB cable that connects to the front of the mouse to recharge it. Its pretty cool.

I went ahead and bought the (last-gen) Logitech Cordless MouseMan Optical, the tail-less twin of my current Dual Optical MouseMan.

I won't be installing it anytime soon, but when I do, I can compare the Counter-Strike performance between the two. I looked at the MX700 and it has a very slick design, but I actually didn't like the 4 extra buttons. IMO the rear thumb button is hard to get to and the tiny dimples above and below the wheel are microscopic.

All in all, I think the previous design bests the MX700 (besides looks) although I'm actually partial to the original ergonomic "MouseMan" design (used in the first gen optical mouse).

Btw, price is $60 + tax - $30 MIR at Best Buy (B&M or .com).
