That looks to be right. Is there anything I can do to get rid of these guys?

There's a "Treatment" section in the first link, but I don't know if that's accurate or not

Why would you want to kill them? Traditionally speaking, hydras are considered to be quite difficult to kill, although you can exploit this for your own purposes.

They're ugly and I think they are eating my baby shrimp. This is a shrimp only tank and shrimp breed like rabbits. I haven't seen any baby shrimp in quite a while.

I got a bunch of these Red Cherry shrimp.

ugh. If I have to do that, this tank is pretty much toast. Its a nice established planted tank. Granted its nothing special, but it is established.

A crayfish will gobble those up. Dragonfly larva will too. Be careful, though, because both of those will eat other stuff, too!

Well I'm glad that I read this thread long enough to find out how to destroy them tonight when they show up tonight in a nightmare. I'll have thousands of those things growing all over me and all I'm gonna want is a crayfish or some dragonfly larva and of course I won't have either.

This encounter with the Hydra is pretty straight forward and forces you to become familiar with the block button. Use quick attack combos on the face of the Hydra until you see the beast flap its ears and pull away from you, signifying that it's about to attack. Quickly hold the block button and keep holding it until the Hydra begins returning to its normal position?if you stop blocking too early, you may fall victim to the enemy's quick follow-up attacks.

After beating the crud out of the Hydra's head for a while, a CIRCLE symbol will appear over the beast. Quickly approach it and press the grab button to begin the death sequence. Just follow the on-screen button prompts and you'll finish off the Hydra, clearing the way for your progress through the ship.

Maybe, but they are probably also considered a fungus or bacteria of sorts... and not the good kinda... because they can sting other creatures and are an uncontrolled growth in an controlled environment.

It's advisable for most people to not have any living thing in their tank that they didn't intend in there because this is not a natural environment and whatever creatures are living in there are not meant to be part of a food chain - rather a stable environment with controlled feeding styles and systems and a mix of living things that may not be native to each other.

They eat the little baby shrimp fry. Thats the problem. My tank used to be swarming with little itty bitty shrimp.

have you looked into a fish that might eat the hydras? of course it would eat shrimp too but also would be easy to extract when the job is done.

increase water changes and decrease feeding. remove adult shrimp. The hydras will die out with no source of food.
