What components are you putting in it?

SPEC series is okay, nothing special but not bad either. I would consider the SPEC-02 or SPEC-03, they have two preinstalled fans whereas the SPEC-01 has one, and they also have 7mm more room for a CPU cooler (max. height is 157mm). SPEC-03 with white LED fans is $80 after rebate, promo code and shipping at Newegg. Strictly speaking SPEC-01 for $50 after rebate at NCIX is a better buy, just slap on 1-2 cheap 120mm fans (Arctic F12, for example) and it's basically the same as SPEC-03.

But if you're willing to consider other cases, here are some alternatives:
- Corsair 100R has more or less the same features as SPEC-01, just looks different
- Fractal Design Core 2300 is again more or less the same as SPEC-02/03 but with a little more space for CPU coolers (up to 162mm), and probably a little bit better construction quality
- at a higher price point, DirectCanada has Fractal Design Define S for $99. Excellent case with noise damping panels, quiet retail 140mm fans (GP-14), excellent compatibility for midrange and high end setups alike, air cooling, water cooling etc.

Are you saying that the SPEC-02 or -03 provide for a cooler height of 157mm? Or are you saying they offer 164mm?

I've got a TR LG Macho cooler on a new build that has a height of 159mm. It fits inside a CM Stacker 830 with just enough clearance to install the hinged plastic door fitted with fans for the two lower mounts only. You could install a third fan in the door -- just to the right of the top of the cooler -- but this would make it difficult to install a pusher fan on the cooler. However, the height . . . is right . . . if the door is two fans light.
