copyrighting a web page

I believe I have the correct forms. I just have one slight problem. Part of the web page uses a javascript script that is available on the internet, but I do not wish to copyright that script itself. Merely the associated files of the web page. I'm currently trying to find the source / author of the script so that I may speak to them about it, but I'm not having much luck. Anyone know the correct thing to do about this, in regards to copyrighting?

I remember an incident where someone copied a page from someone elses website and pasted it verbatim without referencing the author. Then the author joined AT and raised cain, but I couldnt find the thread.

IIRC, in a class I had last semester we learned that anything printed or made like that is automatically under copyright by the author.

At the bottom, just put a copyright notice but include a statement that all other copyrighted material belongs to their respective owners or something. I don't remember the exact wording, but I've seen it before.
