Hey. So my brother is taking our thousands of old pictures and copying them to his computer so we don't lose them. The main issue is it take forever to do.

He has to copy each one to his computer and then re-size the pictures because they are too small once they are copied.

Is there a specific program that would be able to re-size the pictures once its copied to his computer? Has anybody else done this and maybe knows a better way?

Thanks a lot

Just to clarify, you're scanning physical photographs to your computer? You say that you're resizing because they are too small? Does that mean you're resizing them to make them larger?

How are you copying the pictures between computers? If you are using an "upload to the web" application, then the photos may be resized smaller. If you are actually copying the files using Windows file sharing or FTP over the Internet, the original and the copy will be identical in every way.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about physically copying photographs with a scanner I guess. Anyway any decent scanner with included software should auto crop what is the photo from the empty space. Also, I don't really understand what you mean by size as physical size doesn't relate to the size once it's scanned into the computer. Maybe he needs to increase the dpi its scanning at.

If he is using a scanner, he probably has the DPI set too low in the scanner program. Set it to 200 or 300 DPI (common resolutions for photo printing) before scanning the photos.

Sorry for not clarifying. He is taking physical pictures from like a old Polaroid camera and scanning them to his computer. But when he scans them, they are showing up on the screen very small and he has to re-size them on the computer to get them large enough.

So the DPI might be too low...I'll let him know and see if that will help him. Thanks for the quick responses.
