Copying Hard drive

I am in the process for getting a new hard drive.
I am using Windows xp and I am wondering what is the easy way to copy my files to the other hard drive.
I was told to use x-copy from a dos window, but wonder if this will affect long file names.

Thanks in advance

easiest way if you want a full copy of everything is to use whatever utility comes with the drive or is available from the manufacturer's web site. I believe that all of them offer one.

OK will do, think my brother has Norton ghost. will grab it if Hd doesnt come with its own copying software.
Thanks all.
