Copying files from one PC to another seems to take too long

I have 2 machines, noth Windows XP. They are on the same network which is wired 10/100.

I am trying to copy 2 large files from one machine to another. One file is 4.2 Gig the other is 3.9 gig. I opened up 2 instances of Windows Explorer on the destination machine, one instance I browsed to the folder I wanted to copy files to, other instance I used administrative share to access the files I wanted to copy (i.e. \\server\c$). I then just drag and dropped the files from one explorer window to the other.

I started this at 9:28 AM, and it is now 9:55 AM. The progress bars are barely 20%. The time remaining fluctuates anywhere from 90 minutes to 200 minutes remaining. (The two files were copied separately so they have their own progress)

Why the heck would this take so long?

By my rough calculations, the 8.1 gigs is about 8300 megabytes.

My network should be 100 MBit/s, which by going to wikipedia which says 1 Mbit is 122 Kb means 100 Mbit is 12.2 Kb per second, or roughly 12 megabytes per second.

Therefore it should take me 691 seconds to transfer 8300 megabytes at a rate of 12 Mb/sec, right? Which is only 12 minutes.

There is something seriously wrong with my calculation or my network... Both PCs have 10/100 cards and the router is a D-Link DI-604 which is also 10/100
