copying CDs using DVD for playback

Are there any problems that you guys know of associated with using a CDR burner to copy a cd being played back through a DVD rom drive?

My old DVD rom drive wouldn't read a disc unless I closed the burning session. But that thing was a Raite drive, which means it was a POS.

No, shouldn't be a problem for any newer drives (5X or greater).

also, i just ordered a very cheap dvd rom drive only to find that it has only a 128 kb buffer size.. will this be bad? btw, the ram to dvd access time is 115ms

i've never had a problem burning cds that a dvd-rom didn't recognize. i'm currently using a plextor 12.10.32 and my dvd-rom is a toshiba 6x.
