OK, what can I say, I like SCSI and I have the hardware.

So, I plan to move/copy the boot partition of the DELL SATA disk to my nice 15k SCSI-320 drive.

I am beating my head against a wall trying to get this done.

1) Ultimate Boot CD will not boot on this machine ... perhaps due to the new chipset (Intel 945)
2) Ghost 9.0 Recover CD appears to freeze at the welcome screen

I've tried other stuff, but I am to frazzled to accurately describe what other things I have tried.

HELP

Just use the restore CD's that came with your Dell on a new drive and it will create one for you.

From what I understand, sometime in recent history, Dell stopped providing "Restore CD's" and now the only way to restore is through the utility partition (Ctrl+F11) which goes through a completely automatic process.

I tried going through this manually by burning the restore ghost image and the recover.exe application to a DVD, booting from Win98 floppy and running the recover process on the new disk, but what resulted was a non-bootable partition.

I have made it through this before using the UltimateBootCD, but that disk isn't working for me now, as it doesn't recognize the new 945 chipset from Intel.

Thanks for your thought and for any others you might have.

Best regards,

Call Dell and ask if they will send you restore CD's. My 600m I bought last December did have CD's included.
