Copying an 'in-use' file.. Solved!

iTunes lets you watch videos from their site, but it doesnt let you save them. The video files are actually written to your temp folder, but when I try to copy it out to save, I get the error, "File is in use".. Is there a way around that?

if you have a windows 2000 resource kit, I believe there is a utility that will let you copy in use files...

Thanks. Any idea on what it might be called or what package its in? I have the Windows 2000 Server Resource Kit, and just looked at it, but couldnt find it myself.

And I don't think I see it in the Win2K resource kit either.

Edit/Update

I found a different way of doing it.. I used the Windows Backup Utility which backs up other OS protected files such as the registry or event logs.. It uses "Volume Shadow Copy Tech".

I backed up the temp dir, then restored it somewhere else.. The file is now mine to do what I like with!

idea from here
