Copy-protection on VHS from 1990?

I'm doing this history film presentation and want to copy all the clips I'm going to use from the VHS movie onto one tape so they flow seamlessly (makes for a way smoother presentation). Anyway, I have this tape from 1990 I believe, and was wondering if using two VCRs to do this would cause the image to be bad? I know there is copy protection on the newer ones because this girl who tried to do it with her Pearl Harbor tape was unable to as the image was really crappy and the VHOLD was all messed up.

Thanks.

Nah for a tape that old I really doubt there would be anything in place to prevent the image from being transferred perfectly.

Can't comment on your issue, but that's why my dad has an old VCR from the 80's to do his VHS copying. :)

eh, i remember as a kid i would try to copy tapes in the early 90's and macrovision was always a problem.

macrovision works by fooling the AGC in the record VCR. kind of in the same malicious way that EMI's copy control technology works.

Never had a problem with it until I bought a newer VCR. Was giving me bad picture (not like it could get too much worse than VHS), so I bought a black box noise filter... :D

i know, but vhs is easier, since the scene selections are not exactly where i want them to be, and fast forwarding would be way too much waste of time in a presentation

Macrovision only affects VHS.

So, if you play macrovision protected VHS and tape it to 8mm, MiniDV, you can escape the issue.

DVDs also have macrovision so you can't hook up a dvd player to a vcr and copy it.

hm i think i copied it successfully, although my vcr could be macrovision free. i think it was bought sometime in the mid-1990s and is just not showing the macrovision, i'm afraid it might show up on the school's new vcr.
