copy problems in win2k

I installed Windows 2000 about 5 days ago due to some problems I was having with Windows 98. I backed up all my data so I could do a fresh install, but had some problems with my HP 9100 cd-writer. I was able to fix that, and it took 5 disks to back everything up, although my cd-writer still seemed to have been going bad, so the following day I purchased a Plextor 40x12x40. Anyway, I don't know if that is relevant to my problem, however (the HP screwing up). I've been able to copy a large amount of my stuff - all of my program install files, all my old backed up e-mail, pictures, mp3's, etc. Now that I'm starting to try and copy some other stuff off of 2 of the other disks (site backups, website stuff, vBulletin hacks, and some other BS), I keep getting errors - the parameter is incorrect and error performing inpage operation (this is all I've seen thus far). I don't know if it has anything to do with the cd-writer problem I was having or Windows 2000?

Sounds like the data on those two disks is corrupt. Your dying HP burner probably didn't burn everything quite right.
