Copy DVD to VCR becomes Black and White on VHS tape??

I bought Lady and the Tramp 2 and went to copy it from my HP N5125 DVD to VHS. It was color on screen(TV and computer) with perfect clarity. Went to play VHS and it is black and white.

How can this happen? Is this some type of copy protection?:disgust:

Yes. Copy protection and/or screwed (incompatible region settings) connection DVD-to-VCR.
