Maybe I should contact EMI and ask when the CD is coming out...

;)

phone # is listed above.

went to a retail chain and got it. the packaging has no physical 'compact disc digital audio' logos on it. on the back, there is "Copy Controlled" and little pictograms that seem to indicate that it can be played on "CD - DVD-V - DVD-A - SACD Players, PC MS Windows 95, Pentium 2 233MHz, 64 MB RAM+, Mac OS 8.6-9+CarbonLib & Mac OS X" and not on "Others". underneath is an email address "qc@emimusic.ca" and phone number "1-866-553-0220" which i should probably call
Hmm, I wonder if you can complain to your equivalent of the Federal Trade Commssion over the fact that it plays at reduced fidelity (some lossy compressed format) on PCs without the label saying so? How about your equivalent of senators / congressmen? Any other agencies that handle truth in labeling / truth in advertising?

Do it for the children! ;)

it would be a good idea.

it appears that the audio data just screws with the natural RED BOOK STANDARD WAY of data correction, preventing a proper copy.

right, and for PCs and Macs there is a second session with player software and lousy lossy compressed audio files.

So have I, and half of AT. But, I like Radiohead and decided to pay nine WHOLE dollars for the CD because I support artists who continue to make great music.

The first RETAIL release [SSR] showed up in mid-May, so that's not over three months. The first ADVANCE release [iTS] showed up at the very end of March, again not over 3 months. I'd be interested to learn how you got your copy over 3 months ago as most of my other online "friends" didn't seem to get it for at least 2 weeks later than you, and that's for the ADVANCE (non-retail, non-final) copy!

Anyone else find it ironic that the album is titled Hail to the Thief and they have copy protection stuff?

i just ripped using a program called Feurio which has copy protection awareness built in... and the audio quality is perfect.

i'll try and figure out if there's something in the options that's specifically 'fixing' the audio.

I think they need to work on their 'copy protection'. Just picked up this CD, while here at work.

Work Machine is P4 with a Samsung SC-148C cdr, I can copy the 1st song 2+2=5 with no problem using Media player. Yes I know MP sucks, but it not my machine.

My Laptop P4 with a Toshiba DVD/CD-rw SD-R2102, when I rip the 1st song with Media Player or CDex it doesn't come out. The first 2 minutes and 56 seconds are silent.

I'll have to try again with my 2 machines at home.

My version of this "CD" is Canadian with the 'copy Controlled' symbol on the back.
