Copy and convert DVD to different format?

A wedding video only plays in black & white on my relatives DVD player. How do I copy, convert, and reburn the DVD in a different format? I attempted to copy the DVD on my Mac using a its single drive but it only copied garbage files to the new DVD. Is there a particular Windows or Mac software that will help do this?

Does the video play on another DVD player in color? They might just have the cables hooked up wrong.

If it's an uncopyrighted DVD disc, you can copy it to an ISO or a DMG (image files), and then burn it from there. Disc Utility on Mac (built-in) can usually handle ripping & burning.

It plays on my Mac in color, I'll try it in a different DVD player. I think it is possibly copyrighted. I purchased 4 copies of the video (the max possible) but I'm afraid none will play in color on his DVD player unless I can find some way to copy it and burn it to a different format.
