"Officers coincidentally patrolling the area saw a gray Honda SUV launch into reverse and knock Mauro over. Mauro jumped on the hood, but was thrown off as the driver fled with the luxury watch, police said. Mauro was treated at the scene for minor cuts to his hand, elbow and knee."

"Mauro, who ran to the nearby officers as soon as he was tossed from the SUV. “I started screaming ‘Go get him, he has my Rolex!’”

But the thief was already gone. "

.Dude, really?

Aside from that, the 'experienced seller' had the dirtbag come to his house. How long will it be before the dirtbag or his buddies come back at night for more?

'Experienced seller' may be in for more experiences.

They probably weren't in the mood for pursuit, plus, you know, think of the paperwork.

Why didn't he just return the watch?

Why did he have someone come to his house for an $8k transaction?

Why did he give the watch to the guy while he was sitting in his car before the guy gave him the money?

For a "seasoned" seller on the marketplace, he sure sounds like a fucking idiot.

Dumbass, you never hand in the item without getting the payment. Why not do the transaction at a police station? :tongueclosed:

Well, he can try the civil route and sue for conversion/trespass to chattels.

I mean, it is Facebook Marketplace...so there should be a name....

Maybe he didn't check the guy's ID or tag number though.

But really, people don't get it. Police are NOT military or even quasi military. They're administrative paper pushers with guns for the state(unless you live in utter shitholes like Cleveland or Houston, which is not Long Island), and they down fucking donuts more often than the go into combat by orders of magnitude.

Half the time around here the police don't even show up. This was before George Floyd But if they get a little worse after because God forbid people want ethical cops that have some accountability at all.

Based on the interview with the guy, the thread title is a straight up lie.
