It was funny. Leave it alone.

Anyway he should never have been tazed. They only detail the newspeople need to get right is the fact that he was sleeping and tazed while sleeping. All others are really irrelevant. He's sleeping. You say "HEY!" or whatever else in a loud voice. If he doesn't move go over and cuff him while another has a gun or tazer aimed. There were 2 officers versus 1 man. 1 man watches and 1 man tries to cuff the guy. Tazering him awake is a horrible action. Even if they knew he was drunk tazering him awake will not provoke the best reaction.

What else is there to say, but "Cop Think". House with alarm, white owner. Black guy sleeping, fair game.

Take alcohol from people, too...'cause they keep drinking and driving.

Huh? I'm serious, Cops are Tazing too often and too many people are dying as a result.

They did. The owner is also black which is probably why he got tazed.

If cuffing a sleeping man is too risky for cops to perform without first tasering the everloving fvck out of someone, I'm shocked they don't open every traffic stop with a few minutes of tasing. Y'know, just to make sure you're awake and compliant. Maybe we should fit a device to every car that automatically connects the coil to the steering wheel whenever a cop car turns on its lights within 50 feet, to keep people from making trouble.

The fact that he was arrested for being "belligerent" because he was tazed awake in his own home is deeply disturbing. A hefty portion of this corrupt police district needs to go into this guys bank account.

Show me one instance where the sole cause of death has been proven to be a Taser. If it was so dangerous, why does nearly every officer carrying one get Tased beforehand? You don't seem to realize that a Taser is considered a lower level of force than a baton or hard hand control, as there is less risk of injury.

And many more people die from drinking and driving than from Taser use. Many more innocent people die from others' drinking and driving, even.

Did anyone notice that one of the articles is dated 11/08/07 and the other is dated 09/11/07?

I'm calling shens here and not just because of the dates thing. Both articles sound like bs to me.

I agree, I don't see how this is possibly true, there's some angle we're not hearing here. The story as it's being told is borderline unbelievable.

Which, of course, makes it all the more exciting to see Cadet Lee all up in arms defending cops in this thread. Troll on, buddy.

Why is it that this story hasn't been published by any major news publishers? It's highly sensationalized so I would imagine they would find it a desirable story to write.

Because those publishers hire people whose job is to sniff out the bullshit ;)

If you think calling BS on a story due to proven inconsistencies 'all up in arms', well, good for you. I'm not the only one, either; you say you don't believe it either.

Same reason when the white couple was killed by blace guys it did nto make the national news, it happens more then you think.

A story like this will not bring any new readers. This kind of thing happens a lot more then you think. Go to the court house for a day and listen to cases. Heck even small claims court can be a hoot.

The problem is there's so much coverage of tasering incidences because of the hype around them that any news network would be out of their mind not to run a story as sensationalized as this if it was true. It's not quite the same as gory murders as people have already become increasingly more desensitized to those types of stories. Tazering is the new "in" story.

I think cops should not be allowed to use tasers.

Take the guy into custody.

If he resists arrest just shoot him on the spot or beat him up. The cops have to take too much abuse and pain from people who resist arrest. They should just be allowed to shoot people if they cause trouble. If you are running from the cops they should automatically get a shoot to kill permission. They should not have to put up with punks.
