Cops like pulling over my car for some reason

My car

Driving home with a girl after a fine dinner (no alcohol consumed). I'm doing 45 in a 50 zone. I pass a cop, see him pull out behind me. Pulls me over. Asks for my license, registration and insurance card. I give him everything and ask if I was speeding. No answer. He looks at my registration and points out that it expired at the end of June. I had gotten the letter from the DMV but completely forgot about it. Yes, I am guilty of driving with an expired reg. He goes to his car and writes me a ticket for an expired registration and that's it. He had no way of knowing my reg. was expired before he pulled me over. I have no clue why he pulled me over.

Same thing happened to me 2 months ago. Guy pulled me over for no reason and gave me a bogus ticket for failure to merge which was untrue. I think they like pulling my car over.
 
He didn't say why he originally pulled you over? I'm pretty sure they need a reason to pull you over, and so his ticket for expired registration is invalid. But you'll get that dismissed when you renew your registration, so it doesn't really matter.

I still have to pay the $54 fine, but I have no problem paying it, I was guilty of that. I just don't know why he pulled me over.

Why would he be able to? His registration WAS expired at the time the ticket was issued. Whether or not he gets it renewed now makes no difference. At the time he was pulled over he was not in full compliance with the law, hence the ticket.

Yep. I live in central Jersey and commute to Philly. Then I travel daily between all our buildings in that area.

You can get it thrown out in court if you say there was no probable cause for pulling you over
