I worked in a suburban town with a woman who's son was a cop. She said that all the cops in all the local suburbs had an agreement not to ticket each other or family members.

Sometimes. One of my friends is a cop and her sister got puller over for talking on her cell phone and the cop didnt care that her sister was a cop and still wrote her the ticket.

In general cops don't give each other speeding tickets. I know someone that works for the Park Police, and he's been pulled over before, but never received a ticket.

Anyways, I know cops that will write tickets to other cops. Hell the dept i was going to work for had a policy of calling the guys superior and telling them he was getting a ticket.

There was also a stand off a few years ago when a Tarrant County Constable refused to sign a ticket and got in a fight with a city police officer.

I was amused by a local situation:

Off-duty officer or fireman (whichever he was, but all the officers and firemen do a lot in common) was involved in a boating accident in the next county. (major accident - several in intensive care, and possibly one death IIRC) The hometown police sped to the scene and picked up the driver of the boat before he was ever questioned by state police or sheriffs. So, while there were signs of alcohol at the scene, miraculously, he was never given a breathalyzer by the authorities who had jurisdiction. (since the authorities in his hometown jurisdiction took him away from the scene)

PBA cards. Technically, you're not supposed to use them to get out of tickets but people will flash 'em anyway.

Me? Well most of the times they see the miniature shield in my wallet I carry to honor my father. Whether they give me a ticket or not is up to them, and I expect to be given a ticket if I broke the law.

The cop was 30 mi. outside his jurisdiction and drove to a house. It wasn't a call, like it matters because... 105 is excessive 99.9% of the time.

They call of lights and sirens chases at those speeds (some places), not to mention the fact he *wasn't* rolling lights and sirens.

The OP is an idiot for pacing the cop for any real distance.

It's just his business card. I hand it to them with my license, I don't have any shame, I don't need a ticket. However I have had one bitch female officer call and talk to this relative. And if they still want to give me a ticket I won't argue, if I know I'm guilty, it's up to them.

Not usally... its considered professional curtesy

most cops I know can badge out of tickets even when on thier bikes and sports cars...
usually only exception is State troopers... who seem to care less..

Hell - they make it easy to avoid that situation (pulling over another off duty LEO or family) here. State troopers (and civilian employees of the agency) have the option of getting plates on their POVs that indicate it is owned by a trooper, but looks just like a normal plate available to the public. :disgust: I mean, I am all for perks on the job, but seems like they should have to roll the dice just like everyone else. At least let them lose a few minutes while they get pulled over and have to flash their credentials.
