"It's a big problem, and from the number of cases, it's something we shouldn't ignore," Drug Enforcement Administration spokesman Lawrence Payne told AOL News. "It's not that we set out to target cops, but when we're in the middle of an active investigation into steroids, there have been quite a few cases that have led back to police officers."

Yea cops on roid rage, that should help their image. :hmm:

/shrug if it helps them chase down young punks that are stealing cars and slinging crack then it doesn't bother me at all. This isn't pro sports.

I would think "roid rage" may affect judgment and temperament of police officers... Their Career demands extreme discipline, effective snap judgment, and very patient temperament. I don't think steroids would help police officers do most of their duties, in fact I think it would probably be a big hindrance.

When your ass can literally depend on being the fittest dude on the street, I imagine it's a hefty temptation to try.

I seem to remember back in the 80s and 90s, cops were waayyy less fit then. Nowadays most cops look like they stepped right out of BUD/S. I doubt the majority are using, but It wouldn't surprise me that a sizable percentage do.

Steroids cannot make you something that you aren't.

And is all these cases they did not.

I know in the 4 cases they mention they didn't, but the article uses the investigation from New Jersey to make the argument that steroid use is widespread and in that investigation they found that most of them did. Without it the article would be pretty lame since it would just be 'some police officers abuse steroids'.

Testing for roids is rather difficult and expensive. It's never included on your average drug screen.
