Obviously the thread title states the two extremes, of which, neither are true. We obviously know there are crooked cops that are in the game for the money/power. We also know there are some great members of the law enforcement community that do a lot for us as a society. They deal with things many of us would never want/dream of dealing with.
However, cops get a bad rap in my family mainly b/c all the cops we know are poorly educated individuals on a power trip and take great satisfaction at hasseling others and having "power". I personally think many police officers that you come into contact with daily on the beat can fit this but I personally know two exceptions. It seems that most cops I come into contact w/ are pompus, rude and seem to take enjoyment in ruining your day. Obviously they have a hard job and I don't expect them to greet me with a smile and be cheery but I think we can all grasp at what I mean.
I'm curious if others hold this same opinion? Any interesting experiences anyone would like to share?
