Copper Shims

Depends on what you expect to get out of your $10 investment. If you're expecting cooling advantage, other than a heatsink sitting flat on the cpu, you're probably not gonna like it.

But if you're getting it to protect your cpu, then its a decision that's entirely yours to make. It may make you feel safer installing your heatsink.
