I never thought I would be making one of these threads, I usually find cops pretty agreeable, but here goes. I walk out to my hatch and I have a parking ticket on it. On top of that an undercover cop cruiser is parked behind me, wedged into my bumper. Yep he pushed my hatch forward a few feet (with my parking brake on) so that he could squeeze in between my car the cross walk, doing significant damage to both car's bumpers.

I called the cops one to dispute my ticket, and to for the damage done to my car, and the officer I got actually had written the ticket claiming that I never payed the meter. There was no meter next to my car and I have the proper registration to park there on that street. He claimed that I had to share the meter, he got out and looked it was just a single car meter. I also said if there is no parking here why isn't there signage. He responds with " well sure there are no signs claiming you can't RAPE or MURDER people so naw you gonna do that too??" I was like your kidding. Further he explains, " boy what if you fell and you hit yo head, then what huh? where the ambulance gonna park??? You see your blocking this here spot." Then explain so it's ok that this cruiser can block spots for an ambulance?

Anyway he refused to right a police report on the cruiser for illegal parking or for the damage to my car, he reason, cause it's a cop and they can do that. Long story short, a sargent came out, and the verdict is, I keep the ticket, denied the right to a police report, and the other cop is now under investigation. It's been a weird evening.

Get in your car and back up really fast. That cop needs to get written up. Just because their cops doesnt mean they can do what ever they want. No one is above the law.

Take the law into your own hands. That's the only way to get things done these days.

honestly If something like that happened to me I would find it hard to not go and do some sort of thing in retaliation, but thats because the #1 thing I CANNOT stand in all of life is when people in authority use it againt me when it is not deserved like this. I would probably throw a brick threw a window at he police station or something like that.

You dont look cops in the eyes son, they see it as a threat. Even showing that you can see them is offensive to them. They are all-mighty and invisible hands of justice. The biggest gang in town. The law.

Finally people are seeing what kind of BS cops do. Some of them are just borderline retarded and obese (no wonder they are cops with being in the bottom 10th percentile).

Everyone who replied in this thread should read OP, and preferably have this happened to them...to really realize what i was talking about (which wasnt necessarily directed against cops).

Im sorry about that OP, talk to the lawyer to see if a civil action can be brought against them. If not, I would just eat it up and keep going. Because you will end up wasting time and money just to argue them..and even if you win, you will end up in an economic loss.

1) Go report the incident. Actually, you should have demanded to speak to his superior at the time.

2) Where on Earth did you learn English?

I was able to file an "incident report, with the option to try to escalate," but not to have a standard police report written. I will escalate it. They claimed that I could have backed into him, but given the fact that after he pushed me forwards, there was a few inches between my car and the car in front of me while having negative distance between my car and the police car, my backing into his car isn't really plausible. I have plenty of pictures and to aid my fight.

They gave the cop a ticket, but he he can easily get that removed by his superior. When I left they were trying to get a hold of the driver of the cop car, he is an undercover narcotics cop, far from his district. Also he had a non-valid residential sticker on his windshield, has a no-no. If he was off-duty then he should get a parking ticket just as I should. But hey couldn't determine whether he was on duty or not. They said they would continue to try to contact the officer and find out what he was doing there and why he parked in an illegal spot with an invalid sticker. It is a weird situation, but I will pursue this till I get enough money from the city to cover the ticket and the bumper damage

I apologize about the poor english, I haven't been getting much sleep lately

Oh no, I deffinitely agree, Cops are in general not exactly well educated or very intellegent, and many of them thing they are above the law. Personally I avoid cops at all costs, I will cross the street to avoid them the same way I do with homeless people, its best to just never get around them, especially for me since it annoys me greatly to be talked down to like they often do. Just yesterday there were a ton of cops all around the area I was walking past (turns out someone was raped there like half an hour before), and every single one as I walked by gave me all kinds of nasty looks and stuff like its my fault something bad just happened. One even asked me what I was doing there (I go to college here dumbass).

For starters, in what country did this happen? Your profile is disabled, and English does not appear to be your native language. It is possible to be parked illegally when no sign indicates such, i.e. parking to close to a fire hydrant or stop sign or intersection.

This happened in Chicago Illinois, the office claimed the entire street was temporary parking, even though it was not marked as that. I informed him that this was not marked. He responds with "So, there aren't signs that say not raping or murdering so are you gonna do those too?" Needless to say, that wasn't going anyway. I am filing a damage claim with the city. At this point, if I get reimbursed for the car damage and this situation is over I will be happy. The sides of the cop cars read, "to serve and protect," unfortunately I can't believe this anymore.

Chicago?!! You should be glad they didn't beat the crap out of you for fun. Haven't you seen the news lately? :D

As far as a civil suit against a state /gov. employee; no chance unless your civil rights were violated and even then a 1983 action is a PITA.
