So, let's see:

Guy matches the description of the escapee + has no ID + has no address + running on the railroad tracks = Nope, not our man!

Brilliant!

In defense of the cop, the man did put up a good argument. If he turned out to be innocent but got handcuffed and packed into a cruiser, you'd be reading a similar article about cops arresting innocent people going out for jogs.

That cop is never ...ever...going to live that down. Everday he will be made fun of for that. How can you argue with anyone when they have that over your head....

I read MN on a news article

I believe it was in Minot, ND.

you're right

McNair was serving a life sentence for killing trucker Jerome Theis, of Circle Pines, Minnesota, at a grain elevator in Minot, North Dakota in 1987.

the victim was from MN but it happened in ND

There was actually a legal dispute between one of my school's logos and Notre Dame. I don't know if it went anywhere, though.

Actually, I saw that logo on a truck the other day

I was thinking "why the hell does that Notre Dame logo say Fighting Sioux underneath it?"
Then, remembered North Dakota ..

Are you kidding me? That cop was an idiot. when he first asked the guy's name the man said Robert Jones. When he asked the 2nd time the man said Jimmy Jones. The cop didn't even pick up on it.
