Hmm I don't know about this one. Sounds like he is a good cop and I question the blood test results. I would have to believe at that level he would had a very hard time walking. And the other cops said he didn't smell like alcohol or look drunk. So I am inlcined to think the lab tech got something screwed up. The accident sounds like there is some issues with the cyclists as well.

The blood test should hopefully be good enough to sustain departmental charges and likely the civil suits. If further investigation reveals acts to do a coverup, criminal charges should be filed against the participants.

I suck at being drunk and even I could easily walk at .19. That is barely over twice the legal limit, so 4-5 beer in a fairly short period of time. There have been many DWIs with people in the .30 or .40 range and unless somebody carried them to their car they must have walked to it.

Hes not really getting away with it. They did drop the DWI charge but the others still stand. That and his career is over and the city will be paying out a pile of money.

BUt yea if you get in a accident with a cop call the sheriff or state trooper of your state. Never trust an agency will treat one of their own like everybody else.
