Cop gets killed by his own gun

I was cringing at several officer safety mistakes before he was attacked. It's a shame what poor training, or poor adherence to good training will do. 🙁

I was surprised that the guy turned his back to one of the suspects. He definitely should have called in backup and waited before proceeding.

EDIT: Of course hindsight is 20/20 when watching a situation like this unfold.

quite unfortunate and true. he made several mistakes. no backup and facing atleast 2 people without a gun ready.

theres another one where this guy gets a rifle out of his truck and guns the cop down. course that one was even worse since the cop seemed strangely incompetent, letting the man go back ot his truck after getting into a scuffle a couple times. in this video the guy seemed too laid back and left himself open, he didn't control the situation at all and let the people mill around free..., i don't get it. dont't hey show these cops such videos during training? when i got pulled over for speeding and stuff the cop did the right thing and had his hand near his gun on approach, you could tell he was ready.

just fyi, the gujy who initiated the takedown tried a simple wrestling move. had the officer had either sprawled or jumped back so that his torso went on top of the man and his toes went back, he wouldve easily gotten out of the situation. 😛

but its a sad day every time a officer dies

man that sucked
i mean cops arent my favorite people in the world but those mistakes cost him his life

i hope the perps got what they deserved

sh1t "An officer is killed every 57 hours"?!?! Is this true? My bro is a cop and he's been in some pretty hairy situations. One guy wrestled him and went for his gun but luckily my brother overpowered him (he was a varsity wrestler). That could have turned ugly real quick though.

I met an officer one time that I noticed kept himself at an angle from me and at least three paces away at all times, and he was over at my house on a friendly visit, but he didn't know me. When I went to shake his hand he held out a fist like when you bump knuckles with someone, so I did that and looked at him kinda puzzled (he was an older white cop afterall!). Anyway, he said he never shakes hands because that puts him in a position where a takedown is possible and his gun could become exposed to the attacker taking it.

Made sense to me. I'd do it to if my life were on the line everyday.

That's one of the most disturbing websites I have ever seen. What did they do, compile a set of the sickest videos and put it all together?

🙁

Anyone have a link to the other officer who got killed by some dude with an asssault rifle? Was posted here a while back..

very sad. but even as a untrained person i could see he made many many mistakes. so sad he had to die though

It's referred to as a "bladed stance" and is one of the most basic officer safety tactics there is. I also do the knuckle bump thing rather than shaking hands.

If anybody besides a on-duty cop did the "knuckle bump" to me when I went to shake hands I'd write him off as a paranoid mother fvcker.
