At least there's a backlash from this. It doesn't so much bother me when cops do stupid things. The qualifications for being a cop basically involve having a high school diploma and a pulse. You slap a gun into a retarded person's hands (and while it's not all, or even most, there's clearly a staggeringly large % of retarded cops out there) and they're going to get themselves into trouble at some point. I think the reason most Cop Apologists are so extreme in their viewpoints is because they're afraid more people are going to realize how incompetent, dangerous, and pathetic a lot of cops really are.

What DOES bother me is the "Blue wall of silence" BS that happens even when a cop has completely gone over the line. It's more important to cover for your buddy than for justice to served. Ironic that cops are by far the most notorious for this kind of behavior. But we're not seeing it here, at least.

So come on folks, at least he's probably getting fired and possibly going to jail. Then he can become a mall security guard or something, gain 50 pounds, and die a bloated sack of failure forgotten in an apartment somewhere. Good riddance.

Maybe where you are..but there are places that wouldn't hire certain presidents because their prior drug experimentation would result in an automatic DQ. Many places also require at least a 2yr degree or prior military.

Was it ever comfirmed he struck her in the head? The target of those blows are not visible.

You're grasping at straws. He short-circuited and over-reacted, big time. Tony had it right, as usual:

I don't give a crap whether she talked trash to the cop for the entire ride back to the station - that is COMPLETELY irrelevant to what happened here. No amount of verbal provocation justifies the use of force by police.

THIS is the crux of the matter. In a civilized society, there can be no further argument.

I'd just like to add that we don't know what looooong litany of idiot sass and defiant back-talk that asshole little female felon regaled that troop with before she tossed her effing shoe at him and he snapped and took her down.

I'm not saying his physical reaction is in any way to be tolerated; I'm just saying, put your similarly undeducated ass in his place and feel why he may over-reacted the way he did.

How much do you want to bet that if this was a child/parent and not a child/cop thing, people would be saying she deserved it? :p

I think you're stretching it a bit there. I'll agree a lot of places either require or unofficially require military work, but the requirements to get into the MILITARY consist of a Tier 2 education and the ability to run 3 miles without collapsing, so that's an even less impressive set of standards to slap a gun in some idiot's hand and tell him he's an all-powerful superman who is never wrong.

It should be at least (at least!) a requirement to have a 2 year degree to get into the police force. Right now it's one in some of the MUCH larger municipalities but you can still usually get in with just a diploma in most places. I think a lot of the problems we currently have with cops could be alleviated by not having a staggeringly large percentage of them being retarded mouth-breathing dipshits.

I completely agree with this. You see, having smarter cops means that they will have the intelligence to not get caught when beating the shit out of/murdering people already in custody. It's brilliant, really. This one move would lower the negative publicity toward the cops and it would increase the number of dead criminals. It's win win!

Last I checked, the NH Police Standards & Training physical fitness requirements were more stringent than those of the US Army..haven't checked lately, though...so maybe it's different now.

I think if I got arrested I think my parents would come to the station and finish the job the cop started.

he lifted her off the floor by her hair. Bastard
Anybody but a cop dealing with a teenager this way would end up in jail for assault.

this cop should be tasered, repeatedly, until declared dead by a competent observer (that would be me, hopefully).

Depends what section of the US Army you are talking about. My sister went through police academy training and yes they are in shape but once graduated the standards are generally greatly lowered while in the US Army there are mandatory PT test for your age. I can guarantee that if police training was raised higher to like special forces level there would be a lot less problems with police corruption and abuse. It would weed out those who want to make the city a better place vs those who just want the title for power. Now STFU! and give me 25!

The cop should not have done anything CLOSE to what he did
HOWEVER, NONE of this probably would have happened if she didn't show any disrespect. You're only asking for the possibility of trouble if you do, and asking for an even smaller possibility of getting owned if you do... she got owned

Ruh roh! The US DOJ is now investigating the officer's assault; federal charges may follow.

This little piggy may go to jail after all.

that was about what everyone here was saying....don't throw your shoe at a cop if you don't expect to get a beatdown.

What I think is funny as fuck is if they showed a video where this chick threw a shoe and hit that very same cop (showing it bounce off him)...and then he did nothing. The same guys would be bragging how'd they'd beat that chick senseless if it were 'them'.

Its been a good number of years since I've seen a police use-of-force video where I felt the officer was completely unjustified with no credible provocation, reasoning, or explanation. That asswipe was just tee-ing off on a girl for failing to show proper respect. Maybe he is suffering from job or military related PTSD or something and we are seeing him crack on a really bad day. If so, then perhaps criminal charges are not warranted, but in any event, he isn't competent or fit to carry a badge. If a 100lb teenage girl's attitude is enough to make him snap like that, he needs to find another line of work, like yesterday.

so kicking a shoe at a cop is ok in your book.

Also you do realize many gangbanger types are scrawny and skinny weighing in about 100-125lbs...

Kicking-off a shoe toward an officer who has just ordered you to remove them is inappropriate behavior. Its not an assault or battery that justifies physically violent response, no. I've seen very young kids do the same thing when they are angry at their parents or siblings. So we start slamming five year-olds against the wall, dropping them to the floor, and bashing them in the head by 180lb adult men?

Please report to your nearest psychiatric ward immediately.

Of course, after all the media attention, this guy is going to be taken to the cleaners. Even beyond a just punishment.

Meh. Deserved it. Re-watch this video in 5 years when your tax money is not only supporting this girl but her 5 kids.

There also wouldn't be any cops left. :p

We have mandatory PT testing every three years. I guess it's different over there.
