Yup, we want the dumb ones. Give them a gun, a smack on the ass, and send them out the door. What could go wrong?

There is, I think, something to the idea that people who are too smart will get bored with the job and leave.

it's kinda like not hiring someone because they're overqualified... it's not a question of them not being able to do the job, but rather, is there a point in investing the time in them when they're going to leave as soon as the economy picks up or a better offer comes along?

That does mean they're overqualified. They're saying he wouldn't stay because his IQ implies that he would likely get bored with the job and leave after a year.

Isn't this just standard MO for any business? Why waste time and resources on someone who is just going to roll out after 6 months?

They may be stupid in choosing IQ as the deciding factor (rather than education and resume) but not hiring overqualified people is common practice. Seems like a stupid lawsuit.

125 is not that exceptionally high.
For New London I can understand it. There is not much room for advancement or need for very highly intelligent cops. In New York City it would be a different story as there is a need for a number of highly intelligent officers due to some unique positions in such a large and varied police force.
