I posted this in the Applications forum, Ladi suggested I put it up here, so here goes:
The ISP that I've recently begun getting involved with is now doing a mandatory proxy for all customers, mainly for filtering out known pornography sites. Some other customers also want to have other categories of sites filtered out as well, and that raises a problem. At the moment it setup so that when the user opens a browser, he must log into the proxy manually. This is mainly so that the user may retain his/her settings apart from the rest.
We would like to get away from that system, as the login screans get annoying. We have considered transparent proxying (is that a word?), but that takes away the ability for each user to have his/her own settings.
What I think would work best is to coordinate our radius and the proxy, so that when a particular user is authenticated through radius it also logs him into the proxy. This way, whenever the user dials up the login is already taken care of. What I would like to know is if this is possible. At the moment we have the radius and proxy on two seperate machines, but that will be remedied in a day or two.
The machine itself is a Sun Sparc 5 Station, running (I think, not in front of it right now) Sun OS 2.6. The radius is Ascend Radius 1.16, and the proxy software is Ur-Labs's I-Gear 3.0.0. Thanks in advance.

BTW, if this is the wrong forum, I apologize. I am somewhat new to this board.
