I have an X2 3800+ and was wondering if Cool'n'Quiet is worth installing...does it work as advertised in reducing heat and power consumption?...I know when overclocking CnQ should be disabled but what about when running the system at stock speeds?

it works pretty good. you can use CNQ even if you overclock but you have to use the highest multiplier (10x in your case)

brought mine down by 2-3C, it isn't much since mine is already cooled very well but the lower voltage should increase the card's lifespan

so enabling CnQ means that you can no longer set the vCore??..it will be controlled by the CnQ program?

i used "auto" volts and had cool n quiet disabled in bios.

on my dfi board, in the bios i then used the "spec" vcore control to get it to what i needed for my overclock. in my case it was auto + 10%.

if you were running stock, just set it in the bios to "auto" and then use rm clock to control the vcore when it drops to idle. when its under load, it will run the default vcore of your chip.
