CoolMAX PSUs better than Antec PSUs?

Just curious. I posted a thread on the EA650 @ J&R (jr.com) for $72 + shipping on FW, and I got a red and one reply:

" just buy CoolMAX they are cheaper and 3x better

had two antecs fry and they weren't cheap ones "

Never heard of CoolMax myself.

No coolmax is not currently better then Antec. Chances are the PSUs referenced in the quote where from Antec's old True Power 2 line of PSUs. Those PSUs went threw a bad period where they had faulty capacitors in them. Antec has been struggling to rebuild there rep ever since.

Fact is the EA series from Antec is better then any Coolmax PSU ever made. Sure coolmax is cheaper but you get what you pay for.

Hahaha...I've had a Fry's Electronics component sales guy tell me that he uses Apevia power supplies in all of this computers and it's been going strong for the past year. I pointed and laughed at him.

Some Coolmax are pretty good. Many of them are also crap. The Green Power series are just absolute pieces of garbage.

Some people are just shills or idiots (not mutually exclusive) on those vendor websites.

Even with the old capacitor problem on SOME Antecs, I would still completely trust them. A++++ products.

Yeah, because they actually honor their warranties.

I'd defninently go with a current Antec PSU. Either the EarthWatts series, Neo series ( 500w and up ) or the Basiq series as I believe they are all made by Seasonic atm.
