Is it a good idea to thermal paste 486's heatsinks to video ram? or they would be too heavy?

i already have a fan on the gpu (visiontek Geforce2 in a p3 running @868 (124x7) on a bh6 v1.02

My problem

video blacks out in 15-30 mins when playing 3d games, cant even go to desktop when this happens.
even reinstalled drivers and DX8 (via Dx Buster)

Could this be heat related?

i'm using a p2 heatsink on my GTS RAM..
i machined it to shape an "L" put AS2 on all my VGA RAM and put some power glue on the outer side chips
it helped me reach higher memory clock

oh one more thing i find o/c ing my card's core doesn't give me any improvement in performance...
with memory i get at least 5~10% improvement w/ every 10~14 MHz increments
