Cooling unit too heavy, should I be worried???

I just bought a P4 2.4Ghz 533 FSB and a Zalman CNPS 7000Cu to go along with it. Only I didn't realize that the 7000Cu exceeds Intel's maximum weight standard. I think I read that it should be ok as long as I uninstall the cooling unit whenever I "move" my system around.

When they say this, do they mean like, if I picked the system up and moved it to another room I should uninstall it? Or just when I transport it via FedEx or whatever to another location?

If I kept the cooling unit installed during transportation anyways, what is the worse that could happen???

Incidentally the 7000CuAl which meets the weight standard I didn't get because I like copper better than aluminum 😛 (feels pain of being an idiot).

Thanks! Sincerely, idiot

You shouldn't worry about it being too heavy. I have a similar unit for my Ahtlon XP and it's been working fine even though I take my system out from under the desk and move it around to upgrade sometimes.

If you're going to ship it somewhere, then you should uninstall the heatsink.

If you're just going to place it in your car, then I would place the computer sideways so that the heatsink is sitting on top of the motherboard and not hanging upside down or anything.

But other than that, the heatsink should stay on fine.
