I just moved from a cramped no-name case to a Carbide 200R. Now that I have space to easily put in my graphics cards I tried putting both my Radeon 5750 and 5850 in and using them for Bitcoin mining. (In the only case even fitting just the 5850 was a herculean effort.)
When I run only the 5750 (which is what I tried first) it ran at 65c. I didn't try the 5850 alone, but I'd imagine it'd run around 70c. When I put the 5750 at the top and the 5850 at the bottom they both ran at 78c. When I put the 5850 at the top, the 5850 ran at around 85c and the 5750 around 70c. If I open the case, the 5750 drops to 66c but the 5850 only to 83.5c.
The Carbide 200R has a lot on places for fans, including directly in front of the graphics cards. If I add an exhaust fan there, would it help temperatures significantly? It's my first brand name case and I've never added a fan, so I don't have experience with this, but it feels like this could help. By the way, I only have one spare fan header, so can't add more than one fan (the case already comes with two). Edit: I've read that intake would be better, but I've also read that it might not affect temperatures much.
Also, what's the difference between the various fans available to buy? Edit: I noticed that the 200R's side fan description is "120mm/140mm fan mount". Is it better to buy the larger fan? Would it be harder to fit one fan size or another?
One last thing, there are three pin and four pin fan headers, although it looks to me like a fan connector for three pins can fit the four pin header, is that right? Do fans I buy normally come with three or four pin connectors? The case ones came with three.
Thanks in advance.
